May CAL Embossed Crochet Vest Week Three This week were are going to crochet the back section with the Embossed Crochet motif. If you would like to make it bigger, you can always add more squares or a thicker border.Ĭrochet Tutorials. The final lapghan is 80 cm x 110 cm (31″ x 43″), which is perfect for me. For my Linen Stitch Manghan, I have used Scheepjeswol Stonewashed XL in Canada Jade, Blue Apatite, Amazonite, Boulder Opal, Moonstone, and Lemon Quartz (Colour Packs available below). It works up quickly, and you can alter the look of it so much by changing how often you change colours and how many colours you choose to use. The Linen Stitch has been one of my favourite stitches since I first started designing. I have had so much fun making this Linen Stitch Manghan. Finally, I decided to call Herrschener’s directly to see if they had back copies in stock or anything like that. Mindful of copyright laws, I did my best to search on Amazon, eBay, and elsewhere on the internet to see if I could find a legal copy to direct the searcher to, but I found nothing. I got a request a few days back if I could share the pattern since it’s not readily available. I wrote about this a little bit before (here if you want to read about it), and while I’m still plugging away at it, it seems that sometime between when I started this and now that the pattern has gone out of print. I think this will be the fourth or fifth year I’ve been working on it, a little at a time. Here’s my county fair afghan entry, slowly, slooooowly coming along. Here is the end result.įree Tropical Delight Crochet Pattern - mellie blossom. The original bag is closed with a zipper. The handles in the original pattern are tubes, which are filled after finishing. The original pattern is made of clusters and 2 chains, but again, too open to my liking. Making the same kind of chain round for the start of the big circle. Because the gaps in the flower always will be there, i sewed them together at the back. The leaves are crocheted the same way, behind the petals. I as well was smitten by this bag, so i gave it a try myself. On Facebook some crocheters made a pattern of their own. However, there is a site, which has the pattern and diagram, you can find it here: The original bag doesn't have the little leaves behind the flower. It's a pattern called 'Mermoz Round Bag' from an Anny Blatt magazine, but there is no source to be found. This handbag has been floating around on Pinterest and Facebook crochet groups in Holland. I took the just of the pattern and added my flavor to it.Bizzy Hands: A Bag Story. Something spaceish perhaps? What do you think I should paint on the handles? Let me know inn the comments! I like how I was able to easily adapt this pattern. I think that I may paint a design on the handles. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I struggled with it and debated whether or not I should simply do a button closure like in some of the adapted patterns but I stuck it out! I sewed the handles on and a bead in the center of the flower. It took me some time to get it right because it bunched up on one side and I made stitches too tight. I free handed the attachment of the zipper, so it would stay straight and even. I made 36 rows and single stitched the ends together. I don’t have a sewing machine, so I tend to star away from projects that include lining and machine sewing a zipper. If I put a loose pen in my purse or change, it won’t fall out. One of the things about the star stitch is that it creates a thick texture and fabric. Then I started my first row for the star stitch. I crocheted the foundation row according to this length. I measured how long the zipper was and determined that the length of the body of the purse needed to be at least nine inches. I used Aunt Lydia’s thread in black single crochet in the the first stitch chain two and single crochet in the top of the next scallop. The zipper that I used was from Michaels, too. I used one skein and a little more for sewing things together. For the purse, I used Isaac Mizrahi yarn called Ambassador (essentially a dark purple) that I purchased from Michaels. I saw a couple different alterations of the flower design, but I actually liked the flower which was based on an Irish rose crochet design. It had a flow on the ends and a puff or bobble stitch for the body portion in the original design. I created this purse after seeing a pattern called the Mermoz round bag. I need more space stuff in my life! I am sure you will see a theme over the next few months. I am completely obsessed with all things stars related now because of how awesome Star Wars was. I call this piece the Starry Purse because the shiny flecks remind me of the stars and the body of the purse is created by using the star stitch.
